Tabtastic is designed to be extremely easy for participants to get started with, there’s only 1 step to get started, regardless of which reg system the tournament is using.
Commands should all be used inside of a tournament Discord server, so that Tabtastic knows which tournament you are currently participating in.
AutoReg is Tabtastic’s built in automatic registration system. It combine all of the normal steps like the pre-reg form, joining the Discord and doing Discord reg into 1 easy step. All you need to do is fill out the Tabtastic registration form sent to you by the tournament organisers. Once you’ve submitted it, you will be automatically added to the tab and the Discord server, as well as registered with the bot, all in one simple step. If this is your first time using AutoReg or you have no saved details, Tabtastic will ask you if you want to save your details to be autofilled for future tournaments. You can edit your details any time by clicking your user icon and picking My Details.
If the tournament is using a different pre-reg system, for example a Google Form, then the organisers will have imported your data into the tab already. Make sure you have joined the tournament’s Discord server, then use use the /link <email>
command in any channel inside of the Discord server to register (e.g. /link [email protected]
in #general). You’ll get a message from Tabtastic confirming your information and the name of the tournament you’ve registered for if it succeeds. If you’ve participated in a Tabtastic tournament before, Tabtastic may recognise you and prompt you with your details, which you can accept to be linked automatically.
Make sure the email you use in registration matches the email you completed pre-reg with!
Check in is extremely easy for participants, when check in opens everyone will be notified, and then all you need to do is click the green tick mark below the message to check in. Tabtastic will send you a message if you have checked in correctly. Depending on the tournament, judges may also get a special check in message, see Judge Check In for more information.
Each round you are participating in, you will get a message from Tabtastic giving you the room you are in for that round, the position if you are a speaker, the meeting link for the round and your Tabbycat private URL. Tabtastic will also announce the links for all meetings in the tournament’s Discord server for all in rounds.
At some point after the draw, the organisers will begin the motion timer. Tabtastic will notify everyone, and then begin a 60 second countdown. If there is an info slide, that will be announced first, and then there will be another 60 second countdown for the motion. Once the motion has been announced, a 15 minute prep timer will start. If there are multiple rounds with different, they will be announced at the same time.
You get your Tabbycat private URL every round with your draw message to fill out feedback or ballots. If you need the private URL earlier though, or if you cannot find the draw message, you can also use the /tab
command at any point to have it sent to you again.
The Command Reference is a helpful document with all the commands you might need, how to use them and a description of what they do, it may be worth having this document open during the tournament.
If you’re a speaker, this is all you need to know and you’re ready for the tournament!
If you’re a judge, you should also take a look at the Judge Guide, which has some additional information for judges.
