Draw Release

Tabtastic has a powerful draw release feature, which can notify participants, anounce the draw, release it on the tab and set meeting links on the tab, all at once. It also can generate Zoom Allocations. If you want to use Tabtastic with Google Meet, you should read the Google Meet guide.

Preparing the Draw

Tabtastic considers a round ready to draw if it is not complete, has a confirmed draw but is not yet released. This makes it quite easy to know which rounds are going to get drawn, but may cause some people issues with concurrent finals where multiple draws have been confirmed for different times. The easy solution is to temporary publish the draw for rounds you don’t yet want to run, start the !draw command, then unpublish those rounds.

Running the Draw

You can start the draw using the /draw <hh:mm> command (e.g. /draw 09:05), where the time is when you want the draw to be released (allowing you to setup and schedule draws in advance). Tabtastic will fetch the current rounds from the tab, and display them to you, asking you for confirmation before it continues. It will then resolve the debates into its own format. If you have configured buildings in the Allocation tab of the Tournament Manager, it will now ask you for the meeting links for each building (for more information, see Buildings). For Zoom tournaments, you will need to setup the Zoom meetings, which is detailed in Zoom Allocations. Once you’ve finished setting the meeting links, you can click the tick button, and Tabtastic will release the draw when scheduled, or instantly if that time has already passed. Each participant will get a notification, there will be a general announcement in your configured announcement channel and a link for each meeting will be posted in the current channel.

Private/Break Rounds

Optionally, if you don’t want the links to your meetings being published during the draw, either to the announcement channel or to your tab, you can use the --private flag to only send the meeting links to the speakers and judges participating, and in the current channel (e.g. /draw 09:05 --private).
